Story:

In the country of Ametris, Edward Elric and his younger brother Alphonse lived in the rural town of Resembool with their mother Trisha while self-learning alchemy at a young age. When the brothers commit the taboo act of Human Transmutation to resurrect Trisha after she died of illness, it backfired and they suffer the consequences via the Law of Equivalent Exchange: Edward losing his left leg while Alphonse is dragged into the Gate of Truth. Edward then sacrifices his right arm to save his brother's soul and bind it via a blood seal to a suit of armor, later replacing his missing limbs with Automail prosthetics. Edward later receives an invitation by Colonel Roy Mustang to join the military so he can research a means of restoring Alphonse's body. After becoming a State Alchemist with the title "Fullmetal Alchemist", accompanied by their childhood friend and Automail mechanic Winry Rockwell, Edward begins his quest with Alphonse to find the legendary philosopher's stone which could repair their bodies.

钢之炼金术师真人版，《钢之炼金术师》真是日本著名动漫，由漫画家荒川弘创作，背景设定在炼金术相当发达的世界。爱德华·艾尔利和他的弟弟阿尔冯斯十分思念亡故的母亲，为了再次见到母亲的微笑，而进行炼金术中最大的禁忌人体炼成，欲将死者复活的炼成术。可是炼成失败时的反弹效应，爱德付出“通行费”左脚、阿尔则失去全身。为救回弟弟，爱德牺牲自己的右臂作为代价，将弟弟的灵魂固定在一副铠甲上。失去的右臂和左腿由钢制义肢“机械铠”来替代，因此在取得国家炼金术师资格时、大总统给予“钢”的称号，人们称之为“钢之炼金术师”。

Di negara Ametris, Edward Elric dan adik kecilnya Alphonse tinggal di pekan desa Resembool dengan emak mereka Trisha sambil belajar kemahiran alkimia sejak usia yang muda lagi. Tatkala adik-beradik mengingkari larangan tabu  Transmutasi Manusia untuk mengembalikan nyawa Trisha selepas mati terjangkit penyakit, dan mereka menanggung segala akibat melalui Hukum Penukaran Setara: Edward kehilangan kaki kiri manakala Alphonse diseret ke dalam Pagar Kebenaran. Edward berkorban tangan kanannya demi selamatkan jiwa adik dan menyambungkan segelan darah kepada sut perisai, kemudian kaki tangan hilang diganti dengan prostetik Automail. Edward turut mendapat jemputan oleh Kolonel Roy Mustang dalam kajian ketenteraan memulihkan anggota tubuh Alphonse. Sebaik sahaja gelaran Alkimia Kebangsaan "Fullmetal Alchemist" diraih, beserta teman zaman kanak-kanak mereka dan mekanik Automel Winry Rockwell, Edward berusaha gigih dengan Alphonse untuk mencari batu alim falsafah legenda yang mampu memperbaiki tubuh mereka.
